Each year academics at Curtin University compete for an Innovative Teaching Practice Award. The presenter was one of the successful recipients of this award in 2002. Primarily, the innovative approach focused on the whole design, development and implementation of the project management area at Curtin University. Examples of novel approaches to teaching and learning included:
- the development of a diverse audience for teaching and learning, including postgraduate students, overseas students, Curtin staff and external clients;
- the creation of the Project Resource Centre at Curtin to help raise the knowledge and competencies of Curtin staff, including coaching, training, and developing a project management methodology;
- integrating current developments into teaching and learning through the continuous improvement of teaching material in the form of literature reviews;
- the use of videos, guest speakers and consultancy experiences to provide a rich and diverse range of learning experiences.
