Educational Design
If you are thinking about different ways of delivering your existing units flexibly, come and have a chat to the Educational Designers. We're located on the ground level of the T.L. Robertson Library.
We would be more than happy to show you some examples of what is currently being delivered around Curtin and how to go about preparing your material for flexible, online or print-based delivery.
Our educational design team can:
- Provide educational/instructional design expertise for any Distance Education, Open Universities Australia and Curtin Online unit developments
- Assist you with the monitoring and evaluation of DE, Open Universities Australia and Curtin online units
- Provide you with a number of useful checklists and guidelines that will help you develop effective flexible learning materials
- Provide you with advice and guidance on how to implement flexible learning via Learning Management Systems such as WebCT or Blackboard
- Help you design interactive, engaging ways to present your existing course materials and motivate your students.

The LSN have been instrumental in the online upgrade of all units in the Training and Development Program in the Faculty of Education, Language Studies and Social Work… The relationship which we have developed with staff in the LSN has been invaluable and we hope to continue working with them. They are a wonderful resource!
Kathryn Dixon, Robert Dixon, Training and Development Program.
LSN provided Instructional Design consultation for us on a project to convert two existing creative and professional writing units into fully online (external) offerings. This was the first time my colleague, Liz Byrski, and I had tried anything like this kind of project. The LSN was able to offer specialist Instructional Design knowledge in evaluating both our planning documents, and our final draft materials. We found the LSN's willingness to respond promptly to our materials, their friendly and encouraging approach and strong expertise in the field not only made the whole process easier for us to navigate, but also helped us to produce a superior product. I'd recommend the LSN to anyone on campus involved in this kind of project.
