ALTC Promoting Excellence Initiative
In 2008, Curtin received funding of $220,000 under the Australian Learning and Teaching Council's (ALTC) Promoting Excellence Initiative (PEI) scheme. The funding was granted to develop strategies that build and/or consolidate institutional systems to support staff to engage constructively with the programs of the ALTC. These strategies are consistent with the objectives and values of the ALTC and support the priorities for teaching and learning of individual universities.
ALTC Promoting Excellence at Curtin
The ALTC Promoting Excellence initiative was coordinated within the Office of Assessment Teaching and Learning. The project outcomes included:
- The appointment of Teaching and Learning Mentors in each of the Faculties to provide encouragement and assistance to staff applying for ALTC awards or grants.
- Alignment of Curtin teaching awards with ALTC teaching awards and increased funding for Curtin Teaching Excellence and Programs awards.
- Improved procedures for Curtin staff engagement in the ALTC Grants scheme.
- Improved procedures for Curtin staff engagement in the ALTC Fellowships scheme.
While the two-year project was completed in December 2009, the outcomes of the project continue to support Curtin staff engagement in the activities of the ALTC.
