Curtin Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching
Curtin has a tradition of recognising its excellent teachers and this is reflected in our success at national level in the ALTC Awards for Australian University Teaching. In 2010 Curtin won four Australian Awards for University Teaching and seven Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
The Curtin Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching are awarded annually and aim to provide recognition and reward for outstanding performances, by both individuals and teams, in teaching and in enhancing student learning. The Award programs available for nomination are:
Awards for Teaching Excellence:
In 2011 there are nine award categories with up to ten awards granted at the discretion of the Curtin EIT Awards Committee. Each award winner will receive a certificate and a grant of $3000. Refer to the Guidelines for full details. Nominations close 5.00pm Monday 22 August 2011.
Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning:

Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning:
This award category recognises the diverse contributions that individuals and teams make to the quality of student learning at Curtin. In 2011 there are up to ten awards granted at the discretion of the Curtin EIT Awards Committee. Each award winner will receive a certificate and a grant of $2000. Refer to the Guidelines for full details. Nominations close 5.00pm Monday 22 August 2011.
Each of the EIT Awards has differing requirements and selection criteria. Applicants should refer to the appropriate guidelines for selection criteria, selection process and timelines.
The winners of the Curtin Awards for Excellence and Innovation are announced in October and the winners will receive their awards at a ceremony later in the year.
Eligibility
All members of Curtin academic staff whether full-time or part-time, teaching in undergraduate or postgraduate programs, on-shore or off-shore, are eligible to be nominated, provided they have taught at Curtin for at least two years. Citations are also open to non-academic staff and university associates who make a contribution to student learning. Refer to each category of awards for more detailed eligibility guidelines.

The Curtin EIT Awards Committee is chaired by Professor Robyn Quin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) with representation from all Faculty Teaching and Learning Committees, the Student Guild and previous Award winners.

Closing date
Completed applications must reach the EIT Awards Officer, Office of Assessment, Teaching and Learning, Building 105 Room 150, Bentley Campus by 5.00 pm on Monday 22 August 2011.
