West Australian Network for Dissemination (WAND)

The West Australian Network for Dissemination (WAND) is one of the state-based networks funded by a grant of $50,000 from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC). *

This inter-university network has the broad aim of facilitating sustainable, long-term enhancement of learning and teaching, nurture a climate of collaboration and embed innovation and good practice in W.A. The group will support improving WA's relative performance in grants and awards and build capacity through:

  • The annual WAND "sharing day" which began at Curtin University in 2009;
  • The annual Teaching and Learning Forum which has operated since 1992;
  • Linkages with state and national networks and organizations that also support the scholarship of teaching and learning;
  • Inviting the engagement of regional campus staff to participate in WAND activities; and
  • Engagement of WA universities and staff with the Australian Government's Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT).

    WAND members work together to develop, promote and disseminate across the state in an atmosphere of collaboration and extend an invitation to all academic staff to become involved in WAND activities and to connect with colleagues and the collective resources of this state's universities.

    Current WAND Committee is:
    Rob Phillips (Murdoch)
    Linda Butcher (Murdoch)
    Linda Lilly (Curtin)
    Alan Goody (Curtin)
    Tony Fetherston (ECU)
    Sally Sandover (UWA)
    Andrea Fraser (UWA)
    Heather Clarke (UNDA)
    Denyse Macnish (Murdoch)

    * The Australian Government's Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) replaced the ALTC in late 2011and is due to become part of the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education in early 2012.
