National Summit on Program Leadership
30 March 2012
9:30am-4:00pm (EST)
The Ship Inn, Brisbane, Queensland
About the Day
Recent studies have identified the pivotal role of program leaders in enhancing university learning and teaching (Scott, Coates and Anderson, 2008). Curriculum leadership and knowledge as well as the skill to manage academic and professional staff teams are significant responsibilities of program leaders. Presently, work is being done to recognise and address the unique needs of program leaders and generate ongoing support for the role. This national summit will bring together higher education institutions that are currently developing the program leader role.

Embedding English Language Development into Discipline-based Units
Wednesday 15 February
Room 400.305
3.30pm – 5.00pm
The seminar will involve discussion with a panel of discipline academics (from three Curtin faculties) and language specialists who worked together to explore strategies to assist students in developing their English language skills in the context of their units of study.
We trust that the panel arrangement (rather than presentations) will engender lively discussion and exchange of ideas.
High afternoon tea will be served at 3.30pm.
